figurine, Sokar hawk
Wooden bird representing Sokar, a god of rebirth. Wooden birds such as these, without human heads, were placed on coffins and Ptah Sokar Osiris figurines from the Late Period (747-332 BC). This item was coated in gesso and then painted. The base is 95mm long and the height of the artefact is 45mm.
