D-ware vessel, red painted decoration, with two pierced lug handles. Base also painted. Predynastic period, probably Naqada II. The Naqada Period is named after the type site in Upper Egypt, just north of Thebes. From the fort cemetery at Hierakonpolis (grave 137) excavated by Garstang in 1905.
