cosmetic jar
Travertine dish. 21cm in diameter, 7cm high. Broken and mended prior to 1997. It is Aston type 52 which dates to the 3rd Dynasty. '3044' in black ink on the base. On the basis of the large paper label with the object and the letter '3044' on the base, it seems this is from excavations of tomb 1 at Raqaqnah, by Garstang in 1901-2.
