macehead, conical
Conical macehead. Black stone (diorite). Chipped and mended. 47mm high. This type usually dates to the Naqada I Period (4000-3500BC). The Naqada Period is named after the type site in Upper Egypt, just north of Thebes. See Gilbert, G.P. 2004 'Weapons, warriors and warfare in Early Egypt' for information on maceheads.
