Chinese Vase with Flowers, Shells and Insects
Balthasar van der Ast, who specialised in flower paintings, trained with his brother-in-law Ambrosius Bosschaert. His compositions are based and inspired on those of Bosschaert although his use of line and brushstroke is softer.
