Glass roundel from Newcastle upon Tyne
The drawing shows a roundel of window glass painted in grisaille with the device of a bird standing on a barrel (tun) which is inscribed with the letters 'blax'. In the background is a rural scene with a fortified house by a river, approached by a man with a frame on his back. The glass pane was originally in the Radclyffe's town house in Newcastle, later part of a Roman Catholic chapel.
