Gaston Charoy's story
Gaston Charoy was mobilized on August 3, 1914 in Montmédy, took part in the fighting near Verdun and was taken prisoner on September 3 at Fort d'Orff in Ingolstadt, then in Amberg (Bavaria) for 4 years. He did not want to tell everything about his life in the camp, but advised his wife to read "Diary of a simple soldier" by Gaston Riou, companion in misfortune, prisoner in Ingolstadt, repatriated.…
