A girl dressed as a British soldier
Photograph of a child
Embossed on this photographic postcard is the name of the photographic studio, ‘E C Watling, 33, Jamaica Road, Bermondsey, SE [London]’. Presumably dressed up in her soldier–father’s trench cap and kit, the small girl wears a leather bandolier, water bottle and what looks like a haversack; the rifle is no doubt a toy prop. The cap badge is indistinct, but may be that of the Royal Artillery.
