Life in the trenches
Corporal Stanley Esilman 048583 was born 1895 in Manchester to Scottish parents. He was a cousin by marriage of Sheila Hylton. Stanley served in 12 King's Liverpool Regiment and 61st Brigade, 20th Division.
The family stories said he was a messenger along the trenches. The diary gives an account of the capture of Neuville-Bourjonval on 2 April 1917 (Somme)
Died 1980.
