This story is about first lieutenant Josef Tuffek, who was a member of the joint Austro-Hungarian army (the Osijek 78th Infantry Regiment). He was most likely born in the town of Grgurevci in Srijem around 1884, and died in Osijek in 1937 at the age of 54 after an appendectomy in the Batory sanatorium.
