My grandfather Wilhelm Jochens was born on June 20, 1887 in Zirzow, district of Stargard and was an innkeeper by profession. He later moved to Gützkow and then to Greifswald-Eldena. He served in the First World War in the mounted cavalry and as a gunner in the 3rd battery of the 2nd Pomeranian Field Artillery Regiment 17.
