Two brothers, Vojko Adalbert Schauff and Branko Alexanderx Schauff, were members of a well-to-do Austrian family from Opatička Street in Zagreb. They were recruited at the beginning of the war and served in Africa. Little is known about Branko, the elder - he had the rank of captain and died in 1918, probably at the front.
