A brief history of the castle is provided below the print. 'This castle is built on a rock and stands between the hills about 4 miles east of Llandilovawr. By the gift of King Henry 7th it came to Sr. Rice ap Thomas Kt. of the garter whose grandson Rice Griffith having forfeited it, it was granted to Richard Vaughan, Earl of Carbery, Lord President of Wales'.
