Music and Mechanics

Does music today rely more or less on mechanics than music of the past? Let’s take a look at ways in which sound can be created, explored and measured using mechanics, and how different acoustic instruments have influenced mechanical ones. But, to start our journey, we don’t look at musical instruments at all. Instead, we look at the humble fly. A fly that lived a long time ago, in 1666.
